JAYHALI, India — On Monday, Indian drugmaker Pfizer announced that it is to grant approval to sell Viagra to men taking the little blue pill.
Viagra is the brand name for the prescription drug sildenafil, the active ingredient in the drug Viagra.
The Indian drugmaker says it is also granting approval to sell Levitra, Cialis and Staxyn to men with mild erectile dysfunction who have a history of drug-induced erectile dysfunction.
Pfizer said it will also allow men to buy the little blue pills at a discount from its discount pharmacy, citing a lack of competition in the market.
“This will be the first time that Indian pharmaceuticals have received approval from the United States,” Pfizer said in a statement.
Viagra is among the more than 25 million prescriptions written for the pharmaceutical industry since its introduction in 1998.
Pfizer’s move to allow the use of Viagra and Levitra in Indian pharmacies will likely be the latest example of drugmakers seeking to take advantage of the increasing market for prescription medicines in the region.
“The Indian pharmaceutical market in India has been growing steadily for the past decade as a result of the increasing availability and accessibility of prescription drugs in countries like China,” said Rajinder Gupta, a professor of pharmaceuticals at the University ofIES. Gupta said India’s Viagra and Cialis are among the most popular and widely used drugs in the world.
Viagra and Levitra have long been considered “super-potent” drugs, as they have been proven to be effective for a range of conditions such as erectile dysfunction and benign prostatic hyperplasia.
But in recent years, Viagra and Levitra have seen an increase in price due to competition in the drug’s market, as well as a lack of regulation in the market for erectile dysfunction drugs.
In India, the government has been developing the drug for many years, and the price of Viagra, Cialis and Staxyn has increased steadily over the past few years.
Pfizer is in the process of bringing a generic version of Viagra to market, but that is not expected to impact the market for Levitra, Cialis or Staxyn.
“We will continue to have a strong presence in the Indian market to ensure our products are used appropriately,” said Pradeep Bhatt, a pharmaceutical analyst with IMS Health in Bangalore.
“The market for Viagra, Cialis and Staxyn in India is huge and is growing. We believe that the availability of cheaper generic drugs will help ensure that patients do not have to pay more for these medications,” he added.
Indian pharmaceutical companies have been pushing for new generic versions of Viagra, Cialis and Staxyn since they were introduced in 1998.
Viagra was first approved for use in the United States in 1998 and was already available in some countries. Viagra, Cialis and Staxyn are now marketed to treat erectile dysfunction in men, but they are not available over the counter.
Viagra, Cialis and Staxyn are also used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a condition in which the prostate gland becomes enlarged.
Viagra, Cialis and Staxyn are also prescribed to treat erectile dysfunction in men. In the United States, it is also used to treat male impotence.
Viagra and Levitra are the most prescribed medications among the leading prescription drugs, with more than 5 million prescriptions written for it last year.
“We believe that the availability of cheaper generic drugs will help ensure that patients do not have to pay more for these medications,” Gupta said.
Cialis (Tadalafil) Tablets In PakistanCialis (Tadalafil) is a highly effective and highly sought after medication. It is available in various forms, including4 Tablets, and provides relief from erectile dysfunction (ED). It works by enhancing the blood flow to the penis, leading to increased erectile function.
Cialis (Tadalafil) tablets work by inhibiting the enzyme phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5), which regulates the absorption of blood vessels. By increasing blood flow, Cialis helps achieve and maintain an erection, facilitating sexual activity.

Cialis (Tadalafil) Tablets are a highly effective and highly sought after medication.
1.Nitrates (e.g., nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate): Cialis and nitrates both lower blood pressure. Taking them together can cause a significant and potentially life-threatening drop in blood pressure (hypotension), leading to dizziness, fainting, or even heart attack or stroke. It is contraindicated to use Cialis with nitrates or recreational "poppers" (amyl nitrites).
2.Alpha-blockers (e.g., prazosin, terazosin, tamsulosin): Both Cialis and alpha-blockers relax blood vessels, which can lead to excessive blood pressure reduction when used together. This may result in dizziness, fainting, or orthostatic hypotension (a sudden drop in blood pressure when standing). If needed, your doctor may adjust the dosage or recommend spacing the medications.
3.Other antihypertensive drugs (e.g., atenolol, propranolol, enalapril, lisinopril): Cialis can enhance the blood-pressure-lowering effects of these medications. While this interaction is usually less severe than with nitrates or alpha-blockers, it can still cause dizziness or fainting in sensitive individuals. Close monitoring of blood pressure is recommended.
Cialis (tadalafil) can interact with certain foods and beverages, potentially altering its effectiveness or increasing the risk of side effects. Here are the key drug-food interactions to be aware of:
